Sennheiser / Labor W
(Wennebostel) |
Super rare German high end quality. Found in studio equipment and
high quality Bauer/Klangfilm units. I have seen them in an old
catalogue and they were very expensive!!! |
This is the only 1:45 (33dB) transformer I have ever seen for microphones.
Works perfectly with all MC cartridges I have tested. |
Perfect sound
on the same level as the Siemens transformers. Very dynamic, but
maybe I was fooled by the higher amplification. |

Telefunken 42.5102.055-26 |

Great sounding transformers of very high quality. |

"Dynacord" 3553 |
Common transformer of very good quality found in many German microphone preamps.
I do not know who made them, but this pair comes from a Dynacord amp.
Grey PVC covers protect the trannies. |
These have split primary windings with two 1:10 windings (for 20-21dB of amplification), so that you can also get 1:5 if you want. Pretty good frequency response.
Primary DC = 2x50 Ohms, secondary = 7.5 kOhms. |
Very nice sound.
Also found in green/grey plastic cans. |

Beyerdynamic |
Small, but always good working transformers.
Some of the Beyerdynamics have pretty high gain. |

Sennheiser TMB003 |
Common smaller version of the above transformer. Found in Klein +
Hummel, Telefunken and - of course - Sennheiser units. |
Also works very fine. Pretty high 26dB of amplification and very
good high frequency response. |

JS Transformers Denmark |
OK, this one is not German, but is vintage too. JS (Jorgen Schou) later worked for Ortofon... |
Sounds very good on the same level as most Siemens / Haufe
transformers. Low input impedance - perfect for SPUs or EMT Tondose. |
Here is
a picture of the original amp they are coming from. |

Another pair.
Slightly different regarding the impedances. The medium input
impedance of the shown type is good for many cartridges. |
Oh the types! Take care as similar looking units with the same name
(as 0.32M) can house different transformers. Carefully read the fine
print! Here is
another picture. |

Beyerdynamic Bv. 35 665 |
Very little transformers, but of outstanding quality. Also found in
later Siemens and professionel Amperex units. |
Amplification is 23.5dB and the frequency response is very linear
(down to 7Hz and higher than 35kHs for -3dB). |

Melodium E 40ES |
Great working French input transformers from the late 50s or early
60s.
High
amplification of 30dB.
